'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a upcoming game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At the London club he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
